Welcome to our FAQ page! Here, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we receive. We will update this list as new questions arise and as we receive additional guidance.
1. Is the Financial Aid Office closed?
No, the Financial Aid Office is open! We are ready to assist you via phone, email, and online. Please visit our Important Dates webpage for the latest announcements, office hours, and contact information.
2. I do not have a laptop for online courses. What can I do?
You can borrow a laptop, hotspot, and other equipment from the Ventura College Library’s Equipment Lending Library. Additionally, the Financial Aid Office offers a limited number of “VC Student Emergency Grants.” Please check our Important Dates webpage for more information.
3. I just completed my financial aid requirements. Will I receive a financial aid offer letter if I am eligible?
Yes! It’s important to monitor your MyVCCCD portal weekly for updates. If you’re eligible, you will receive an email notification at your my.vcccd.edu email once your file review process is complete.
4. Is it too late to apply for financial aid?
No, it’s not too late! You can complete your financial aid application for this academic year until June 30th. We strongly encourage you to apply today.
5. What is the deadline to submit a Satisfactory Academic Appeal to the Financial Aid Office?
Please refer to our Important Dates webpage for specific deadlines and additional information.
6. I need to apply for a Federal Direct Loan. Where can I find information, and what is the deadline?

7. What should I do if I can’t continue attending school?
We recommend speaking with your instructor(s) before withdrawing from your class(es). Additionally, contact the Financial Aid Office to discuss how this may impact your current and future financial aid eligibility. We also suggest consulting with your academic counselor and the Admissions and Records Office for other available options.
8. Will I have to repay my financial aid if I stop attending, completely withdraw, or fail all my classes this semester?
If you stop attending, completely withdraw, or fail all your classes, you may not be eligible for the full amount of financial aid originally scheduled. The Financial Aid Office will determine how much aid you have “earned” and whether you owe any funds. For more information, please see the Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) webpage.
9. Can I use my financial aid to purchase a computer or laptop?
Yes! You can use your financial aid to purchase a computer or laptop to support your educational needs.
10. Is there financial aid available if I lose my job or income?
Yes, we’re here to help! The Financial Aid Office can assist you with your financial aid application and help identify additional resources. If you’ve experienced a change in financial circumstances since submitting your FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application, you may be eligible to file an appeal with Ventura College. 11. Does Ventura College provide help with food or other essentials?
Yes! The VC Basic Needs Center is open to assist you. The VC Food Pantry is located in the BCS building, next to the Financial Aid Computer Lab. The Basic Needs Office can also help you apply for CalFresh (formerly known as SNAP) and other essential services. For more information, please visit the Basic Needs Center webpage.
